I have really been getting into cooking the last couple of months. For anyone that really knows me, this statement should make absolutely no sense!! I have always been known as the girl who happily lived off of cereal and bologna sandwiches in college :) in fact, I don't really think I ever cooked a full meal (well, successfully cooked) until recently. I must really be taking this whole domestic mommy thing very seriously.
Actually, I think I just figured out that I should cook things that I want to eat. When Daniel and I first got married, I tried my hardest to make things that he liked to eat. His favorite foods run along the lines of macaroni and cheese, fried ANYTHING, lots of chicken and beef, rice, beans, and zero vegetables or fruits. That really doesn't fly with me because a) I really don't care for meats in my meals, and b) I really am practically a vegetarian just due to all of the veggies I eat. So after attempting to make a few meals that involved heavily fried meaty cheesy things, I gave up. It's really hard to motivate yourself to cook foods that you don't even like! Not to mention I gained five pounds trying to eat it all, lol.
Then I figured out that Daniel will eat veggies (even though he claims to hate them) if I just cooked them in an appetizing way. He sometimes gripes about the meals when I first mention them but as soon as he eats them he changes his mind :) looks like I have a veggie lover after all!! He now loves salads with my oil & vinegar dressing, zucchini pie, spinach/tomato/basil pizza, egg & tomato sandwiches, 1905 salad, sweet potatoes, and stir fried veggies! Still can't convince him to try my eggplant parmesan though, guess we'll have to work on that ;)
And I do treat him every once in awhile and make Velveeta mac & cheese and steak for him. :)
I could of written this post word for word, well except I did get Greg to try my Eggplant Parm (YUM, kind of want it now)! I worked on his cheapness, he saw how cheap eggplant was and he was sold. He didn't really like it, but he ate it. I am getting him into fish more too, which is awesome because I will choose fish or seafood over meat any day! I have gotten into slow cooker meals, I have all these ones I want to make!! So hopefully after this awful week of cereal for dinner, I can get to it! (sorry for the super long comment!) LOL!
