Six weeks of Declan!

We're officially one month + two weeks into life with three boys...and I'm not going to sugar coat it, it's still chaotic! :P but it has gotten much, much easier. Declan is getting the hang of this sleeping at night thing, nursing is going fairly smoothly, and we've settled back into our normal routine of play dates and errands. I really think the biggest difference is my lack of cooking (seriously, something has to go when I add one more responsibility, haha). And since I don't really enjoy cooking dinner during Declan's fussy hour...wait...who am I kidding, everyone's fussy hour...they get a lot of sandwiches and pasta for dinner ;) this too will pass! Oh yeah, and the house is a perpetual wreck. But then again, when is it not!

Declan has now started to smile, sleep 8 hours straight some nights (and waking up once the other nights, usually around 2:30 am), spending more awake time during the day, and eating every 2-3 hours during the day. He gets a little cranky sometimes during the early evening hours, but calms right down during bath time! Somebody loves the water :) hurray! Nursing is, ya know, nursing...every time I feel like quitting because I'm totally over it thanks to multiple rounds of plugged ducts/mastitis/thrush, I remember how much of a pain in the butt it is to clean/make/haul around enough bottles and formula for a day's outing. If that isn't inspiration, I don't know what is.

Summer has hit full force here - blasting heat and afternoon thunderstorms pretty much every day. I've been trying to stay busy with the boys (mostly so we don't wreck the house even more than it already is, haha). In turn, Declan has fit more in his 6 weeks of life than either of the other boys accomplished in the first six months. We've been on a bazillion play dates to parks, the mall play area, two splash pads, Playmobil FunPark, the movie theater, the zoo, the pool, bowling alley, and friends' houses. Whew! All that's left for this little guy is a vacation...but wait, already have two of those on the books for this fall to Clearwater and Connecticut (including his first airplane trip!). What a well traveled little guy!
